How to check your breathing. Sit in an upright chair, in a quiet place, with your feet flat on the floor.
Do you naturally like to have your mouth open? Yes/No
Can you hear your breathing? Yes/No
Does your upper chest or shoulders move when breathing? Yes/No
Is it uncomfortable to hold your breath for 30 seconds? Yes/No
In day to day life, do you:
frequently wheeze, yawn or cough Yes/No
wake at night for no apparent reason Yes/No
suffer shortness of breath on any exertion Yes/No
have to take a deep/big breath after a phone call Yes/No
If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you have may have incorrect breathing habit you will benefit from the Buteyko Breathing Technique.
