What is the menopause?
The clinical definition of reaching the menopause is when a women has not had a menstral bleed for 1 year. More commonly the menopause is identified as the time when changing levels of female hormones, especially oestrogen and progesterone, alter the pattern of the a women's cycle and a range of symptoms occur.
